~11 year old M6 with nearly 100K miles on it in NJ, what could go wrong?

Seems a bit high. I was looking at a red 2009 with sinilar miles on CL earlier today for $15k. Apparently there are timing chain and rod bearing issues on the V10. I would say it’s only a nightmare in disguise if you are crazy enough to consider it as a DD in a city. These are highway missiles and track toys. They aren’t designed for traffic. You need to be expecting time in the shop when you buy a car like this.
